Added: 24.06.2013 19:17 | 9 views | 0 comments

Its no secret that PCGMedia are big fans of Sonys first party studio Naughty Dog. Over the past generation the studio has become the paragon for interactive storytelling in the minds of many, consistently raising the bar for narrative-driven games. While Sucker Punch, Quantic Dream and Kojima productions were demoing their next-gen facial animation technology at E3, a game with comparably realistic performances was already arriving in stores. This week, Naughty Dog released their latest game, The Last of Us, to both critical and commercial acclaim. In the same amount of time, The Last of Us has grossed more than Hollywoods latest summer blockbuster Man of Steel has in the UK.

Can Beyond: Two Souls Bring Back the Magic? | gamrReview Preview

Added: 21.06.2013 6:19 | 10 views | 0 comments

gamrReview's Karl Koebke: "To be honest this was all pretty dang linear and I'm not sure how Quantic Dream is going to pull this all together after finding out my choices weren't as meaningful as I thought they would be in Heavy Rain. It's kind of like seeing a magician perform for a second time after I've discovered how all the tricks work. I'm still impressed with what's being accomplish, but the sense of wonder is gone. Regardless, I can't help but give these developers the benefit of the doubt because I loved Heavy Rain on my first play through and I'm a big fan of story focused gaming. Hopefully Quantic Dream will succeed at blowing me away once again."

Beyond: Two Souls Preview | CheatCC

Added: 17.06.2013 20:17 | 14 views | 0 comments

CCC says: "Last year at E3, Quantic Dream revealed Beyond: Two Souls. The game was going to be another cinematic experience much like Heavy Rain, in which gameplay focused on choices and reactions rather than mechanics. In short, it was going to be a huge quick-time event starring Ellen Page and a ghost that followed her around everywhere, but we were OK with that. This year, we got to see the game again, except now the whole thing had a bizarre military coat of paint on it. Gone were the gritty scenes of the main character, Jodie Holmes, running from the cops while her spirit guide, Aiden, brought down buildings to keep her safe. Instead, we got to see Ellen Page squatting behind cover and shouting at an African kid for 30 minutes. Is this a new direction for the story or just a shameless cash-in on the military game buzz that has been saturating the industry for years now?"

Beyond developer excited about any studio who 'tries to put more story and meaning into their games'.

"I'm not totally clear about [Quantum Break], to be perfectly honest," said Beyond: Two Souls producer Guillaume de Fondaumiere when asked for his thoughts on Remedy's game. "No harm intended, I just saw what they presented during the Xbox press conference. But what I understand is that it's going to be a series and the game probably uses stories and characters to influence each other."

But despite not knowing much about it, de Fondaumiere believes Remedy's game "[could] be interesting".

"We applaud any developer who is trying to put more story and more meaning into...

Beyond: Two Souls hands-on preview | Thunderbolt

Added: 13.06.2013 9:17 | 14 views | 0 comments

Philip Morton, Thunderbolt writes: Beyond: Two Souls was one of the highlight announcements of last years E3. At the Sony booth this year, a 20 minute playable demo was available, showing off a level set in Somalia. This is the same level that was shown before the press conference on Monday, a level which makes this look like a standard third-person action game. But dont be fooled: this is as scripted and linear as youd expect a Quantic Dream game to be.
